2 Things to remember and 5 Things to do during Quarantine
Can you believe just four months ago was the beginning of the year? Its kinda crazy how fast time has gone, and how much things have changed. Just four months ago we could go hang out with friends or go out to a restaurant. But right now we have to stay 6 feet apart with social distancing and are quarantined. Every ounce of comfort has been stripped away and now we are left to hiding. You may have seen the title and thought what? Why do I need more to be told what to do? I am going to try not to tell you exactly how to spend YOUR quarantine but give some tips.
Remember.........
(1) Peace amidst suffering
It's really hard to live in peace, it just is. James 1:12 says 'Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that the person will receive the crown of life that the LORD has promised to those who love him.' Quarantine might not be a trial such as in a court, but a trial in faith. We are being tried by this virus to despair and fear. It is comfortable to live in what the world feels, fear, depression, anxiety, etc. But God does not call us to live in fear he calls us to live in faith, to live in HIM. So live in peace, do not fret about the future. TRUST God that he knows what he is doing. Revelation 6:7-8 'When he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, "COME!" And I looked, and behold, a pale horse [green]! And it's rider's name was Death, and Hades followed him. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by wild beasts of the earth.' A pale green horse is very strange, the green horse symbolizes epidemics, disease. But God is in charge of it all, he tells Death and Hades they can only take 1/4 of the earth no more. He is in control. Rest in that peace.

(2) Productivity
Just because everything is closed and there is no longer entertainment in the outer world, DO NOT get lazy. I am not saying NO sleeping in, or NO having time to yourself. What I am saying is we DO NOT need to lose our good habits as well as gaining bad ones. Such as swapping eating a healthy protein-filled lunch to just eating icecream. Just because you have all day to spend at home DOES NOT mean do whatever you want whenever you want. I am NOT saying that I am perfect in this either.
Three Tips......
~Instead of getting lost in the news, get lost in God's word. Many times our default, when something is going wrong, is to find the theories for why things are happening the way they are. Read the information that will actually fill you. For example, when you eat sugar you feel stuffed after eating it, but later on, you get hungry. But if you eat protein you feel full eating it and later on. The same thing happens with the news, you read the news and all your stress goes away, but only for a little while then you need more again. With God's word, it fills you and keeps you filled, because you know the truth and God is always correct. If you ever need any book suggestions to read, I have plenty.
~Do you ever feel like all you ever do is think? Like your brain will not stop spinning? Do you ever wish someone would understand your thoughts without having telling anyone? Do you feel way too small in a world far too big for you? I know those feelings, I know how lost you end up feeling like no one cares. I know. But I have a big secret to tell you, are you ready? All those feelings and thoughts are known by one person. Do you know that person? That one person is God. Guess what he hears every thought, he feels your brain spin, he understands your thoughts without even saying anything, he knows how small you feel, and he cares for you. Read that again. He made you. He loves you. He cares about you. You are not alone. Do you ever have the feeling of wanting to talk to someone privately? Guess what, you can talk to God in your own head. Tell him anything he will listen, and hear you. He will wait patiently, he will listen with open ears. So when you feel all alone during Quarantine talk to him.
~Finally, do something that makes you remember his promises. For example, I have started writing different bible verses out on index cards. And every time I write one down I think about it. Do something that makes you remember his promises, his truths.
